I saw this article on Film.com talking about the Coen new film, Burn After Reading, not being able to stand up to the Coens' best film ever, No Country for Old Men. Besides being an interesting article about the upcoming film, I couldn't help but want to protest about No Country for Old Men being the best thing that Joel and Ethan have created to date. I would argue that The Big Lebowski is their masterpiece, but as you all know I'm probably a bit biased. I really enjoyed No Country, but I felt it's potential was almost stunted a bit soley because the Coens were adapting a novel and not working off their own creation. The Coens' movies tend to be much more complicated and have more layers than you can possibly imagine. Just because their latest film got Oscar attention, and I'm not saying it shouldn't have, doesn't mean it's their best work ever.
