A Knol is Google's version of a wiki.  If you're not sure what a wiki is, check out wikipedia.org.  Fully featured, they are like a collaborative website.  Depending on permissions and who has the ability to contribute, they can pretty much be open to the world.  This is who Wikipedia is setup.  It's like a public encyclopedia of knowledge and its users are what prevent any crazy stuff from being posted.

Oliver Benjamin, from Dudeism.com and Dudespaper.com, has created a Lebowski knol.  It's really quite good.  Much better than wikipedia's entry on the film.  I suggest you check it out if you haven't already.
