I'm not at Comic-Con in San Diego this year. I've never been there and probably never will be, but I do enjoy catching up on some of the stuff that happens there. As many of you know, Kevin Smith is very near and dear to me as my first favorite director ever. It's great hearing him speak publicly because he's just himself. For better or worse he doesn't put up many noticeable barriers between professional Kevin and real life Kevin. I think it's something the fans really appreciate. I found someone who graciously posted 11 clips from some of the Q & A. I couldn't help but notice half-way through clip #6 the guy asking Kevin a question happens to be wearing an "Achiever" shirt. I'm sure Scott and Will would be proud. Clip 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liYXoORmdRA&a mp;feature=channel Clip 6 Clip 7 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHdIiBtwwiM&feature=channel If you enjoyed these clips, you should probably check out some DVDs of him going around to colleges and universities having open conversations with his fans. I was supposed to be at one of the locations for his first tour with my buddy Perry. This is back when I was in college. I was a major procrastinator and ended up having to write some code for a programming assignment at the last minute and couldn't go. I ended up suggesting my friend Tara, a wonderful web designer who has helped out with a few things on this site, go instead and they ended up being in a couple shots on the DVD. Long story short - do your homework and don't pass up on opportunities like that.
I've seen the first two, but not the third. Haven't gotten around to it yet. I loved them. Yes they're a little dirty and innapropriate for some audiences, but it's great getting to know what's going on inside the head of one of your favorite writers and directors.
