A lot of news has been popping up lately about the Coen Brothers' next flick - A Serious Man. There aren't too many stars in it. I love it when promising films cast un-known actors. It's a great chance to get some more talent noticed in the Hollywood acting pool. Our friends over at Coenesque (http://coenbrothers.net/blog/) and You Know, for Kids! (http://www.youknow-forkids.com/news/) have been covering things pretty well. Instead of trying to retell everything, I'm going to give you a few links to check out on your own.
I think the first bit of news is the film will be showing at the Toronto International Film Festival. If you see the acronym TIFF floating around, especially on Twitter, and had no idea what it meant - now you know. This is big because the film wasn't quite ready for the Cannes festival, so this is it's official world premeire.
News item #2 is both Joel and Ethan will be making an appearance at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN. The Center will be screening all 13 of the brothers' films between September 18th, 2009 and October 17th, 2009. Joel and Ethan will be appearing on September 25th for some dialog and Q&A. According to You Know, For Kids!, "Tickets for the “Regis Dialogue” cost 100 bones or clams or whatever you call them. I suspect they will be in short supply." For more information on the event check out the links below.
News item #3 would be the release of the trailer for the film. I had seen a clip a while back, I can't remember exactly when or where, but this trailer is more extensive and looks amazing. You can find it at Apple.com/trailers.
The last two things I'll leave you with is a first look at a movie poster for A Serious Man, and a hint at what the UK release of the film might be.
Big thanks to Coenesque and You Know, For Kids! for keeping up on Coen Brother news so I don't have to. Hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.
