Today is an important day in Lebowski history. There are two great birthdays to celebrate today. The first would be the invention of the iron lung. Without it, I'm not sure how Arthur Digby Sellers would have survived his health problems. It was on this day, October 12th, in 1928 that a little girl in Boston first used the aparatus. The first model was inventer and built by Philip Drinker, but a better and more improved model was later built by Jack Emerson. The Emerson model is what most of us are familiar with. Big thanks to kayakermanmike who sent us an article. The second reason to celebrate today is the birth of Lebowski Fest. I won't go into gross details because I know I'd just be preaching to the choir here. The first festival took place October 12, 2001 at Fellowship Lanes in Louisville, KY. If you'd like to learn more about what Will and Scott have done, all you have to do is take a trip on over to http://lebowskifest.com.
