My special lady friend and I caught the opening last Saturday night and I must report that regardless of my affinity for all things Lebowski, Mr. Forkan's "Supper at Emmaus" was easily the best piece in entire exhibit. The guy has some seriously impressive painting chops. It's a large painting; possibly life size or bigger. Although it deserves to be displayed in a more high traffic area, the museum has it on the basement level so it's easy to miss if you've never been to LBAM. Definitely make it a point to go see it!

I know I've said this before, but I'm always amazed at the original Lebowski-themed art I stumble across on the internet. This latest, and it's a link I've been sitting on for a while, comes from Joe Forkan. Joe has a blog where he writes about his artwork. His has a whole series of paintings he has done called The Lebowski Cycle. They're pretty great and happen to be styled after other famous works of art. Here are a few images that I'm borrowing from his site. If you click the images it'll take you to his blog where you can see the artwork from which he's styling these Lebowski scenes. I grabbed the most recent three, but there are more you can find on his blog.
I'm not sure if any of these are for sale, but I did find the following on his blog under Exhibitions and Events. I wish I was out in California so I could check out the exhibit. Laguna Art Museum • February 21st – May 16, 2010
The OsCene 2010 – Contemporary Art and Culture in Orange County The Supper at Emmaus from The Lebowski Cycle will be in the show. So if you're in California, and especially in the Laguna Beach area, you should definitely check this out. It's open for another couple weeks or so. If you're interested in more of Joe's work, here are some links... Joe's personal site - http://www.joeforkan.com/ Joe's blog - http://joeforkanblog.com/
