Happy post-Canada Day friends and nihilists! I hope that you all were all able to celebrate the True North Strong and Free in any number of ways, be it eating Tim Horton’s donuts, imbibing Molson, or apologizing for something you didn’t do. I personally sat on my corduroy couch and listened to Rush’s Moving Pictures album, so there’s a start.

Sorry about the long absence as of late… I’d like to say that I was suffering with our dear brother Chalupa, (Yeah, thanks a lot for that one, Canada,) but in fact I was slaving away at a desk in the Midwest, suffering from a writer’s block on my already limited writing ability. Days came and went, with plenty of fodder for new material, but I just wasn’t pulling any rabbits out of the hat, so to speak. This can happen when you’ve got no vacation in sight.

Ah, but that is all about to come to an end, for we are but two glorious weeks away from Lebowski Fest in scenic Louisville: where the sunbeams and the crawdads play their guitars all day long, and any moe on the street would gladly pluck your unibrow for one thin dime! This will be my first year attending the Fest, which I’ve been pretty excited about. Lupa’s always kept me informed about the new s(p)it that comes to light each year, but it’s high time I get in my truck and hop down to the former home of the Colonels to find out for myself. (SIDENOTE: any and all basketball-loving fans out there need to pick up Terry Pluto’s Loose Balls if you haven’t already. The definitive work on the ABA, and a cool insight to the Indiana-Kentucky rivalry…) I know that a lot of you out there will be attending as well, so I’m putting the call out there:

What does this chap need to do to get his nickel’s worth? I’ve got the two-day pass to get myself into all of the fun stuff that’s happening, but I’m curious as to what youse guys and gals usually do when you visit. Where do you get your grub at? Anybody ever jump out to a Bats game? Who does a person absolutely need to meet? What’s the beverage of choice at L-Ville LebowskiFest? All and any info would be a big help to me, and I’m also curious how many other Fest Virgins will be there as well. Maybe we can form a support group.

There’s a couple of things that I hope the rest of you will be jumping on-board with: first of all, the proprietor of Fashionable Male this site will be holding an Achiever meetup at the Executive Strike & Spare bar on Saturday at 3. The meeting is free, and you’ll be able to meet a lot of cool people that help make up this here band of ‘Chievers. I mean, if you haven't met Chalupa or Tom yet, you need to fix that... pronto. This will be a good palce to do that! Second, if you haven’t already, please “like” this page on facebook. As a Hoosier who loves Jim Hoosier, I’d love to see him at the Fest this year, and I’m sure most of you would as well.

  Definitely check out Spinelli's Pizza and the independent stores on Bardstown Rd. There's a great BBQ place called Mark's Feedstore.
