Matt Damon is co-starring with Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin, and Barry Pepper in True Grit coming out next month. In this film Damon will be playing La Boeuf, a Texas Ranger that is hunting down the outlaws with Bridges' character Marshall Cogburn. In preparing for this role, Damon looked to some performances of his colleague and fellow actor Tommy Lee Jones. Some of you may remember Jones from another Coen film, No Country for Old Men, where he plays a sheriff. This isn't the performance Damon is drawing on, but Tommy Lee Jones has played many lawmen in films. He's actually from a small town in Texas near where the character La Boeuf is from. Damon is particularly drawing on Jones' character in The Good Ol Boys (1995). If you're interested in catching this film in the theaters, it comes out on December 22nd this year. Hopefully between this and Tron, ol Duder will have another chance at an Oscar. http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/11/03/matt-damons-true-grit-tommy-lee-jones/
