The image of Treehorn's thugs pissing on The Dude's rug is one of those scenes everyone remembers from The Big Lebowski.  I've heard stories about people pissing on a rug for fun or as a joke, and the phrase is often used successfully as a metaphor.  Rarely do you hear about someone literally getting their rug pissed on though...
