For those of your more detail oriented Achievers, you'll remember one of The Dude's bowling shirts saying, "Medina Sod" on the back. While most of us pronounce it as Muh-dee-na, it's actually a reference to a business in Orrville, Ohio. There's also a Medina, Ohio and that town is pronounced like Muh-die-na, which is also how Medina Sod Farms is pronounced. The shirt The Dude wears is a realy shirt from a real bowling team back in the 1960's and belonged to Art Myer. At some point Art's shirt ended up in a second-hand store where it was bought by the film's costume designer. I would assume this refers to Mary Zophres or one of her staff. I find this a great tidbit of trivia surrounding The Dude's shirt because I've always wondered how he's come into posession of his bowling attire. It's not like his shirts say "Jeffrey" or "Dude." All of them are obviously acquired second-hand. I don't really dig bursting bubbles, but as far as I know Medina Sod Farms still does not have bowling shirts for sale. The article below was written in 2008 and some friends of ours have tried to purchase a bowling shirt from the business. I must give the 7-11 crew some recognition for attempting to educate everyone on the "real" pronounciation of Medina Sod. I've been aware of the town for some time, but didn't put two and two together until a few years ago. So there's a bit of trivia for you. What other cool stories do you know of? http://www.ohio.com/the330entertainment/the-heldenfiles-local-lebowski-lore-1.149117
