Name: Julian Ayrs
Nickname: The Tattler
Location: West Hollywood (CA)
Occupation: Film Critic & Society Page Editor
Personal websites, blogs, MySpace, etc:
(Painting & Sculpture), HD Video captures, rummaging through dusty
antiques stores for lost treasures, yard sales, movie memorabilia,
piano-playing (keyboard in the park), and boning up on my Big Lebowski
folk lore, dude!
Favorite Lebowski prop or set piece:
The car, dude!
Favorite Lebowski character:
The Dude, of course. But, Jesus comes within a sliver!
Recent Dude moment:
Trying to avoid being trampled by Big Lebowski fans at a midnight screening in Hollywood! They're animals out here!
How long have you been listening?
Since the inception!
Favorite episode or podcast moment:
Like, just betcha, I can't pick just one. All Big Lebowski podcasts are gems, 'ya know?
How does The Big Lebowski apply to your every day life?
The laid-back - "what the fu** - attitude" is always ripe with me, Dude! I'm
also always remindin' myself to steer clear of pricey heisted carpets
(like the one featured in the movie) whenever I'm toking on a big fat
doobie. Why? Because, I'd
surely get lost in the dazzling intricate patterns, for days on end. Oh, what a tale I'd weave from that tapestry, then!
Are you a practicing Dudeist?
In some respects, yes! I
can raucaously quote trippy off-the-wall "dialogue" in unison with fans
at packed screenings and also expound on the cultural integrity of the
Lebowski philosophy at whim. Have yet to make a Lebowski fest yet, but it is in the offing, I expect - Dude!
How many times have you seen The Big Lebowski?
Approximately 8 side-splitting times. I'm a newbie, I guess. Who's keeping tabs on the Lebowski data, anyhoo?
Best Bowling Score:
Can't keep it on the alley, dude. The smoke gets in my eyes, I guess!
Favorite Lebowski book:
What is the best Lebowski reference or item you have seen in pop culture?
The Big Lebowski: The Making of a Coen Brothers Film
A poster I used for my blog post once.
What is your favorite movie with a Lebowski actor/actress in it?
Boogie Nights and Hannibal with Julianne Moore
And, in closing, I should
like to poignantly (and nostalgically note) that when the Dude uttered those immortal words - "and what have-you" - he had me!
